Meditation is fast becoming a mainstream practice. For a long
time it was the mystic discipline of Buddhist monks, the religious
and western hippies. These days, however, you’re as likely to find
a professional businessman or sportsperson taking time out to find
‘focus’ and be ‘mindful’.
It’s not about finding an ecstatic nirvana and bliss as much as
nurturing a sense of self or direction, becoming mindful and
seeking calm in this manic technological age of ours. Science backs
the practice up, meditation will increase your clarity of thought,
lower your stress levels and help you manage the madness.
